Following the success of last year’s race, Rugeley 10K is back and looks to be a success once again thanks to the help of ticket sellers, tickettapper . The race takes place on the August bank holiday Monday and is only £10 to enter. All proceeds go towards the benefit of the community in the town of Rugeley.
The race itself takes place mainly through Cannock Chase and along the scenic routes set out prior to event. Whether you’re an experienced runner or a complete novice, these routes are ideal for everyone, so even if you want to take it steady, you can enjoy the views and make it that little bit easier for yourself!
Do not be put off the idea of a 10K race if you are a complete novice, last year’s race had many competitors from people coming along for a bit of fun, to those who run regularly and take part in various races over the year. Competitors also include local clubs, such as Rugeley running club and even those looking to break world records like Mark Vaz who competed in last year’s race! Mark set out to run 90 marathons in 90 days to raise money for charity and ran the Rugeley 10K as part of this. In the end he managed 100 marathons in 100 days and broke the Guinness World Record for the most marathons run on consecutive days!
2015 was a very successful year for the Rugeley 10K with 200 competitors, and 2016 looks set to be even more successful with over 400 runners competing. All participants get a goody bag and a medal and there are prizes for the male and female overall winners with the money raised going to the Rugeley Open Space Association.
